There is no National Language in India. India is a language agnostic nation
This is a good learning for me as I was made to belive from my schooling that Hindi is the national Language.. which was false!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Languages_of_India
States that,
Article 346 of the Indian Constitution recognises Hindi in Devanāgarī script as the official language of central government India. The Constitution also allows for the continuation of use of the English language for official purposes. Article 345 provides constitutional recognition to “Official languages” of the union to include any language adopted by a state legislature as the official language of that state. In effect, there are “Official Languages at the state and center level but no one “national language”.
Official language is a language standard used only in (Central) Government documents.. By no means it is an indication to external world that “India speaks Hindi” but somehow I this precisely the same happening..
I Don’t know how we forget that we are a linguistically free nation..
Calling Hindi as national language is like calling india a “Hindu nation”.. Both of which are false.. Wake up indians..
My notion is to CREATE SOME GENERAL AWARENESS amoung us.
There are 23 Official languages as like Hindi… Please dont mention again its a National Language…
Some extracts for ppl who say since most of India is speaking Hindi so we should have hindi declared as national language.. here is why we should not:
If for some reason, if we decide and say “Hinduism is the religion of >75% of India so let us have a national religion which is Hinduism. We recognize all other religions as “official religions”, The government will endeavour to ensure that all other religion’s followers are encouraged to learn Hinduism and follow along with their own religion”. What would be your reaction ?
Now substitute Religion with Language and Hinduism with Hindi and tell me why is it still acceptable ?
Just as a religions cut across languages/regions in India, languages cut across regions and religions. All the reasons that would rule out a national religion, should IMO rule out a national language.

What is the reason for our Birth? Is there a purpose that we are serving in this earth? What happens when we die? These are the basic questions that ponders everyone’s mind when they think of Life
Before even getting into that, we need to know who we are!. I was thinking about who am I? I could come up with different attributes that i have, but i couldnt come up with a complete fully satisfactory answer!
Some of the answers that we can think of is:
1.I am my name (Uh.. not i am not just my name its just an identification!!)
2. I am son of Mr… (oopss. this is just the relationship that i am mentioniong not me!)
3. I am a Software Engineer (!!! part of my identity.. not me…).
4. I am the aggregate of all the attributes mentioned above and more! ( No way.. i am not just my attributes!!).
So who am i? Who are you?
Could I say I am my feelings? I am my thoughts? I feel this is appropriate.. as any other explanation is either physical or an property of the physical being.
If i am my feelings or Thoughts then i die every moment (weird); As and when I am thinking about a word and as soon as i have thought about that word; its no more a present thought, its a past thought.
So I am what is my current thought?! But i not limited to that! I can traverse back to my previous thought; when i recollect some happenings in the past. So i am kinda past thoughts and present thoughts? But mere thoughts wouldnt necessarily define me, i only act on certain thoughts that i have and discard some of them; So am i a subset of the thoughts which are actionable??!!
Still this is a vagaue answer. Who are you and Who I am! Not sure. Not sure what the answer is
How to improve the conditions of Brahmans? June 27, 2007

The current state of Brahmin Community in India is deteriorating. There is urgency now to fight for the upliftment of the forward (So called Forward as they are actually backward) communities of India. To see the plight of the current brahman community in india check this video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=P7Xgc4ljHKM.
The main reason for the deteriorating situation of the brahman community is our very core value of Tolerance and Non-Violence. I am not advocating violence, atleast we should come out in the street and start protesting for all the injustice that is happening to us. Tolerating injustice as “the Fate” would no longer get us anywhere.
Some of the things that should help our community to lead a normal life:
1. Unite all Brahmans in the country.
2. Form a strong institution that helps develop our community into one of the politically strong and socially strong commuinity.
3. Form our own network that shall help fellow poor Brahmans in their Livelihood to give them Mental and physical strength to face all the discriminations that they are facing.
Let me know fellow Brahmans any other ways that you have so that we can help this poor community from discriminations and help uplift this community.
